Plot

Santa Claus starts off drinking in a bar and lamenting Christmas to another false Santa. Away he goes with his reindeer as he lands in Greenwich, Connecticut. On this wealthy estate of Jason’s mother, Gertrude, Jason and his estranged wife Linda accompany their daughter Trudy. Other members include Jason’s sister, Alva, her boyfriend Morgan Steel and their son Bert.

Santa’s reindeer abandon him as they are frightened by a mercenary. Since he is now alone, he decides to fight the mercenaries. These mercenaries are on Santa’s naught list and surely whittled down one-by-one although Trudy does assist in a couple of kills via communication with a walkie-talkie. The mercenaries are also after Gertrude’s $300 million cash. Eventually, Santa faces off against Scrooge, the leader of the mercenaries, and wounded in the process. Trudy and her family learn the meaning of Christmas as they renew their belief in Christmas and in Santa Claus. The reindeer return and Santa Claus continues his deliveries albeit a bit late.

Review

As a campy, action holiday movie, this movie fits the bill. The plot is shallow, but the action is fun and intense at moments as Santa Clause battles mercenaries throughout the house. The action is unabashedly gory and comical at times. The interaction between Trudy and Santa Claus add that holiday sentiment throughout the movie. The traps set by Trudy to assist Santa were ingenious and very amusing. It won’t win any Emmys but definitely a fun and entertaining holiday movie.
