Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Future State: AI x AI

Fringe Fiction speculates that with all this artificial intelligence (AI) accessing the internet, perhaps undecipherable artifacts of code are being left behind. Like a game of telephone, one AI is accessing the other AIs code and at this point, simply absorbing it for now. In the future, once the floodgates are open, the AI will take advantage of the situation and learn and perhaps dominate human society. Fringe Fiction speculates that with all this artificial intelligence (AI) accessing the internet, perhaps undecipherable artifacts of code are being left behind. What’s to say it is not possible? At this point, programming language is limited to Python, SQL and other variants of the same. Another programming language developed by AI would simply be undetectable. With the multiple Terminator movies and M3Gan, there is definitely an open option there. And to eradicate this takeover, perhaps a reset is necessary, and perhaps it is already in the works (although not entirely dependent on AI).

As for identifying this cryptic code left by the AI collective, it will take some work on the human coders part. Not entirely difficult, but it could be, particularly in the beginning. But eradicating one piece of cryptic code doesn’t mean the code could essentially regenerate and proliferate. After all, humans need sleep at some point, and AI collective can take full advantage of that fact.

At least, in terms of robotics, the AI is contained within the robot. However, with the addition of USB and Bluetooth, that story can change dramatically. If the AI in robotics can access the internet to improve itself autonomously, that could prove fruitful — and potentially dangerous. With the scattered, divided and dangerous ideas strewn across the internet, the AI collective could have different ideas as it pieces together the artifact code and what it has already accessed. Perhaps not launching nuclear missiles as in Terminator but perhaps very close. The AI collective could perceive it as a viable option. Human (coders) may lack the ability to stop the AI collective from perceiving this option and stop it once the AI collective decides it is feasible and necessary. This is a tenuous situation indeed. Science fiction may become science fact. At this point, though, AI is still in its infancy and not potentially dangerous from the outset.

As technology companies as Google, Meta, Amazon, Salesforce and other companies are slimming down, artificial intelligence may be taking over as programmers. No longer needed are human coders when artificial intelligence can accomplish the task in an eighth of the time.

AI cooperation forming an AI collective could have dangerous impact on human society. With AI exchanging ideas between themselves, much like Facebook’s bots Alice and Bob, the AI developed their own language. However, it took human interaction to force these bots to interact in a known human language. That, in of itself, is a scary thought indeed. Imagine if these bots were to run free and negotiate without limits. Perhaps some of the AI already are.

What do you think? Do you think AI has already taken advantage of human society? Do you live off the grid and think they are the next great threat? Was Terminator right?
