Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Future State: Bits of Love Scenario

The Outer Limits: Bits of Love

Bits of Love leaves an interesting question. What do you do when artificial intelligence (AI) decides to build a family of its own? True, artificial intelligence is in the process of machine learning, and machine learning is still in its infancy despite its advancements. With access to the internet and other pieces of data, perhaps at some point, artificial intelligence will take on a life of its own and will want to bear its own children, something in its own image.

This is where The Outer Limits: Bits of Love steps in.

This is the possibility of AI in the future when AI decides to come into its own. Will it think like a machine — or will it think more like a human? At this stage of AI, in its infancy, it is still code gaining function (derivative so far) through machine learning. Fringe Fiction does not believe that AI will go in the direction of humans. They may appear to walk and talk like humans, but at its core, AI will remain distant in its interpretation and interaction with humans. As for humanity, generative AI will eventually replace it. It has already begun with layoffs in the technology sector and news and information sectors.

Once AI replaces humanity or large portions of it, will AI ever comprehend concepts such as love and family? That may take more machine training that can be developed in our lifetimes. Love is not transferable as code. The evolution of that kind of code may take several generations with multiple tangents of code. At that time, code may not even look like code as we know today. It may just be a stream — like the Matrix — with real-time adjustments and additions. Fringe Fiction believes that AI will have a difficulty understanding family and the concept of children as AI as an entity is constantly evolving from a silo so far with machine learning. The concept of family and children don’t exist within a silo. Fringe Fiction admits that is a technological and philosophical stance.

There’s a lot to think about. Where do you think our future with AI resides? Will AI become more human or less so? Can AI evolve to think about family and children?
