Quite a stir when a patch with bugs causes problems across multiple industries including commercial aircraft and airports, banking, and news outlets. The CEO of CrowdStrike did calm things down from earlier, but even then, without malicious intention, this caused severe problems. On the bright side, when something malicious occurs, at least for CrowdStrike, they should be ahead of the game. Australia and the United Kingdom were definitely impacted by this outage. That poses a question for companies such as CrowdStrike with their hands in multiple industries: will the EU or other governments now force their hands into the technology industry?
Fringe Fiction will see if any or all of the problems today will be resolved by tomorrow. This shows the impact of technology (and one single company) can have on the world. We will follow up with you tomorrow on our live stream/streamcast tomorrow. Be sure to stay tuned!
What do you think? Were you impacted by this outage? Will governments now promptly and heavy-handedly step in now? Or is that an overreaction?
