Fringe Fiction Goes to the Movies: July 21, 2024

Another busy weekend here at Fringe Fiction, but we did get to watch some movies. Half were fairly solid, and the other half not so much. We mentioned these movies in our live stream/streamcast on twitch, TikTok, Facebook, Youtube and trovo. Sadly, we no longer can stream on X due to paywall measures. (Looking at you, Elon Musk. These paywall measures don’t democratize news, learning or entertainment.) We may attempt to resolve it in the future, but in the meantime, we are not streaming on X.

So here’s the four movies that we watched:

  • Snow White and the Seven Samurai. Below C fare and barely watchable.
  • Pearl: An X-Ordinary Origin Story. Solid movie that transforms into something else. Worth a watch.
  • Rendel: Dark Vengeance. Not too bad for a foreign superhero movie, Finland’s first supposedly. Worth a watch.
  • Haunt. Decent enough but predictable. It’s kind of The Collector but inside a “haunted house.” Hellfest, a movie with kind of similar theme, is better than this.

What do you think of these movies if you watched any of them? Do you have any suggestions? Please feel free to comment below.
