Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Blood No. 1 Comic Book Review

Plot

This comic consists of five stories, some written and some illustrated. They are The Black Dog, Atlas Shrugged, Werewolf Hangover, Finally and Deep Cover. The Black Dog is about Pluto and the breakdown of his Master. Atlas Shrugged is about Samuel Atlas, the discovery of dinosaurs and more and the ultimate confrontation between him and Reverend Ty Wilbur Dunne. In Werewolf Hangover, it is a slightly humorous short story about Robert’s continuous transformations into a werewolf. Finally is another short story about Leon, Pink Cat and their dealings with metal. Deep Cover is a convoluted short story about Donald Tillman, Jennifer Taft, The Collective and Burger Grab.

Review

A mixed bag literally and figuratively. The most enjoyable illustrated story was The Black Dog, but Atlas Shrugged did have its religious elements to it. They reminded Fringe Fiction of Creepshow or Tales from the Crypt. Werewolf Hangover and Finally were both enjoyable written short stories, but Deep Cover had too much.

Verdict (Out of 10)

Fringe Fiction gives this comic a 7.2 out of 10. Some enjoyable elements and worth a read.
