Fringe Fiction did watch a few movies this weekend. They were Karate Kid: Legends, Operation Undead, and Emergency Declaration. This selection was definitely worth a watch except maybe the last one, depending on your view on drama.
Karate Kid: Legends stars Ben Wang, Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio in a relatively fast-paced martial arts movie. The movie has a role reversal somewhat in that a Chinese student battles it out in the city of New York. However, this time there aren’t strict rules like the previous Karate Kid movies. Fringe Fiction’s only complaint is that the first half of the movie primarily focuses on Joshua Jackson’s character (and Sadia Stanley’s) rather than Ben Wang’s character. Overall, a great martial arts movie worth watching but definitely faster paced than previous Karate Kid movies.
Operation Undead was a pretty good movie. The plot begins in 1941 with Thai and Japanese soldiers in conflict and progresses and ends with zombie soldiers. The antagonist Japanese captain played out his role and played it well. This movie is what The Walking Dead would be if it was Thai and involved the war between the Japanese and Thai. Overall, worth a watch if you’re a fan of The Walking Dead.
Emergency Declaration is a Korean movie about a bioterrorist attack on a commercial airplane. This movie is definitely more of a drama and slow simmering one at that. It takes a while for the movie to picks up its pace. The ending is definitely intriguing as it suggests that is indeed the ending rather than confirming it. Fringe Fiction won’t spoil it for you, but once you reach the finale, you can tell us what you think. Overall, a drama movie worth a watch. Beware that the pacing and the ultimate buildup of this movie are quite slow.
