Fringe Fiction Goes to the Movies #fringefiction #frifi #redsonja #thenutcracker #thenutcrackerandthefourrealms #thefourrealms #disney #socialmedia

On this cloudy and cold afternoon in Philadelphia, Fringe Fiction did get to watch a couple of movies — notably, Red Sonja and Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Both were palatable movies but not spectacular ones.

Red Sonja, starring Matilda Lutz, was a palatable fantasy movie but not great. The storyline, the villain and the acting didn’t do this movie any favors. Also, some more relatable content to the comics would have been nice as well, other than existential references. The 1985 Red Sonja was more epic than this movie. Overall, the current Red Sonja is halfway decent but not as epic as the original.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms was a palatable Disney film. It didn’t quite capture the spirit of The Nutcracker nor did it quite capture the spirit of a fantasy film as well. Luckily, the film didn’t seem to drag too much as it was action-forward mostly. Overall, a decent holiday/fantasy film but could have used more.
