Over this weekend, Fringe Fiction did get to catch a couple of science-fiction movies: The Thing (2011) and The Adjustment Bureau. Both are definitely worth a watch, and both explore the science-fiction realm in two particular directions.
The Thing (2011) is definitely worth a watch. It does capture the original’s spirit with modernized effects. The tension remains the same as the original as it’s a guessing game until the end. The finale is definitely different and separates it from the original. Overall, Fringe Fiction recommends watching this movie.
The Adjustment Bureau is a methodical science-fiction/romance film. It touches on aspects of The Matrix in the debate of free will versus fate. However, the external control is quite different. Fringe Fiction highly recommends this movie.
