COVID 2024: Are Bacterial Infections a Bigger Threat?

With all the clamor and escalation in hospitals regarding COVID-19 variants and respiratory illnesses in the past few months, Fringe Fiction wonders if the bigger threat may be bacterial infections. Much less the supply chain issue with foods and food products, Salmonella and Listeria may pose a much bigger threat to society as a whole. Salmonella and Listeria both have already contaminated some of the supply chain of food that the United States ships nationwide with cheese and meat.  It has not only happened once but several times over the years with food recalls. The food supply chain in general (particularly in the United States) needs some examination and repair but that’s for another article (to deep dive into the subject) and another time.

Bacterial infections, or the suppression of the notices of it or at least the escalation of urgency by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), begs to wonder if something more is afoot or perhaps missing in the larger scheme of things. It may not simply because either agency is understaffed but perhaps something more. Fringe Fiction believes that politics may somewhat underpin both agencies reactions to the rise of bacterial infections. COVID is something that people can believe in and endlessly speculate regarding China and bio-weapon engineering. Two to three years demonstrated how governments worldwide exploited COVID as a mechanism for containment and quarantine. Fringe Fiction remembers the cruise ships that were stranded at ports with dead piling up in the lower levels of the ship — and later, appropriately scuttled once the COVID pandemic ended (due to age).

Bacterial infections much less so and have endured despite the rise of COVID and its multiple variants. The Black Death was prominent during the Middle Ages as rats infected people and doctors wore bird masks. Currently, it is the rise of Listeria and Salmonella in the food supply chain with occasional bouts of other bacteria. It is a bit disconcerting in that a potential bacteria epidemic can originate from our food supply. Chickens, pigs and other livestock have been carrying illnesses themselves and had to be culled. In fact, that had given to the rise in egg prices from avian flu , much less the inflation that drove the prices. It also may be a matter of time before the livestock does actually transmit the disease to humans. Perhaps not through consumption but rather through ticks and fleas. All it takes one small farm town that could potentially bring on another pandemic.

Now, paper masks are the norm, but they are better than nothing. Dr. Anthony Faucci, the former Director of National Institute of Health, did not understand the impact of the health policies implemented during his tenure. With that in mind, the failure of our public health leaders and agencies may arise again.

Most recently, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has reinstated the V-Safe program a few weeks ago. It appears that the CDC is bracing for another outbreak of COVID or its multiple variants. Or perhaps something else further down the line.

Have you received the text message on your cell phone? What do you think? Do you think CDC is forecasting something is coming along the way? Has other countries received similar text messages?
