Fringe Fiction Goes to the Movies

Even though Fringe Fiction is somewhat relaxing this weekend, we did enjoy ourselves a few movies. One was fairly terrible. The other was okay to watch. Speak No Evil was the most noteworthy film to watch.

Speak No Evil was quite good although it did falter in some parts. It had some parts of Wolf Creek and Eden Lake. James McAvoy tried to capture the role, but it was a bit similar in some ways to Split. Overall, a pretty good psychological horror film with a couple of missteps. The movie is worth a watch.

Story Game was a movie that got lost in translation. The movie consisted mostly of three Japanese horror tales, but it got westernized a bit too much for Fringe Fiction’s taste. If the tales were spoken in Japanese, it may not have been as jarring. The last tale of horror was entirely Western in context and rescued the film. Not worth a watch in Fringe Fiction’s opinion.

G20 was the last film. It was a tribute to the 1990s action film in Fringe Fiction’s opinion. It had some halfway decent action sequences but failed in others. Viola Davis didn’t quite capture the role as the female U.S. President and tried her best during the action sequences. She didn’t quite fit the part in Fringe Fiction’s opinion as a female U.S. President or as a former armed forces officer.
