After a long weekend at Fan Expo 2025, it was time to settle down for a bit. Although John Cena was the headliner, Fringe Fiction did not attend his event. Giancarlo Esposito of Far Cry 6 and The Mandalorian fame was the actor that we visited, and he was entertaining.
For today, we watched a few movies that included Heart Eyes and Alien: Romulus.
Heart Eyes, a Valentine’s Day horror/comedy slasher of sorts, was the first movie that we watched. Definitely has a California and millennial vibe to the entire movie. This movie could have a nice potential to crossover with the current Scream movie series at some point since Mason Gooding was in both movies. Overall, this movie is watchable but don’t expect anything original.
Second came Alien: Romulus. Overall, the movie is a good tribute to the previous Alien movies. The movie on the whole, however, was a bit inconsistent. In the beginning, it began like a millennial movie with all its tropes. Once the Alien was introduced, however, things ramped up significantly. The only issue concerning the ending was there was essentially two. Fringe Fiction won’t spoil it for you, but once you get to those points in the movie, you’ll understand. Definitely watchable and enjoyable popcorn movie.
