Fallout: Season 1: Episode 1: The End Review

Plot

We are introduced the characters and the Vaults of the Wasteland. Lucy, the female protagonist, is a Vault dweller of Vault 33 set to marry a man in Vault 32. However, things don’t go as planned, and there is violence. Lucy’s father, the Overseer of Vault 33, is ultimately kidnapped. Maximus, an aspirant of the Brotherhood of Steel, is taking courses and learning the ways of the Brotherhood. He accomplishes the task of joining the Brotherhood. Perhaps at the cost of a friend — or not. Lastly, the Ghoul escapes his imprisonment and takes a few lives along the way out. In any case, both the Ghoul and Maximus are after the same man and his dog. Who is this man and what part does he play in the Wasteland?

Review

Overall, a very good pilot episode. We are introduced to the major players of the Wasteland, including Raiders, ghouls, vault dwellers and others. The introduction of life in the Vault plays almost like the introduction in the Fallout video games. The Fallout load screen, whether intentional or not, during the wedding was humorous despite what was happening at that time. The humor and the violence is definitely on the mature level.

Verdict (Out of 10)

Fringe Fiction gives this episode a 8.5 out of 10. The episode honors much of the video game series in tone, plot and violence.
