Over this sunny and relatively sunny weekend, Fringe Fiction watched a couple of movies: Weapons, Enemy of the State, and The S Word. All three are worth a watch.
Weapons start out slowly and methodically but halfway the movie twists and turns into a movie about something somewhat unexpected. There is a bit of horror in the movie. For those fans of Supernatural, they can take a liking to its cause, but Fringe Fiction won’t spoil it here. Overall, a movie worth watching, but the first half is a bit slow.
Enemy of the State is one of those movies that are campy prior but more pertinent to today’s society now more than ever. Fringe Fiction thinks this movie is relatable to today’s information and data-driven world, with artificial intelligence startups and companies pursuing those who are against the development of artificial intelligence with loose corporate guardrails. Fringe Fiction may be part of this conspiracy in another way, but we will discuss this at a later point and perhaps in blogs in a future date. Overall, this movie is worth watching, particularly for fans of the Mr. Robot television series.
The S Word is movie about suicide and suicide survivors. This one is more optimistic than the one that Fringe Fiction previously reviewed, Wake Up: Stories from the Frontlines of Suicide Prevention. Suicide is a topic that needs to be discussed not only in the workplace but in public in general. There is a heavy stigma attached to suicide, particularly in the United States, and Fringe Fiction believes most Western industrialized nations. Fringe Fiction will dive into this topic, if only to alleviate and disperse some intense feelings residing inside. Overall, this movie is worth a watch about the persons who commit suicide or attempts to. They have ups and downs — until there is no up and no options from their view.
For those thinking about suicide, please call 911 or 988. Otherwise, you can chat with counselors on 741741. Fringe Fiction has found that 741741 is more readily accessible and helpful.
