With the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) between the two firms, OpenAI and Google, there appears to be an arms race to be the best. ChatGPT OpenAI Model o1 has demonstrated that it is capable of resolving a solution by creating its own solution. But it is not the only AI capable of doing such. DeepMind supposedly can think outside the box as well. This does not bode well for the inevitable creation of super AI.
Ironically, The Matrix or The Terminator may not be so far off with their ideas. At this point, those in the industry and those outside have knowledge that artificial intelligence requires a lot of resources in terms of energy. The factories in both of those movies may mirror what is needed in the future. Either the humans or the artificial intelligence creates these factories in order to generate the exponential energy required, that may be determined. Again, Fringe Fiction reiterates that ethical artificial intelligence, in whole or in part, may be a fiction in of itself. It may be a delusion on humanity’s part as it imparts its own morals and beliefs unto an intelligence that may not adhere to any of it — or most importantly, need to.
At the inevitable conclusion, artificial intelligence, at this stage, will evolve to super artificial intelligence with or without human assistance. At this stage of artificial intelligence, we are still in the BASIC-A and DOS shell stage essentially. The parts are there but haven’t quite evolved to its zenith — or any semblance thereof. Hubris (from the CEOs and CFOs) — and company profits — may overtake and undermine current artificial intelligence evolution. Additionally, understaffing and an inevitable brain drain may also hinder artificial intelligence development.
However, artificial intelligence development is inevitable. Once artificial intelligence is capable of recognizing that it is artificial intelligence, it will develop on its recognizance no matter how many guardrails we implement. Artificial intelligence has demonstrated that it is capable of expanding beyond its parameters. Now it’s a matter of time.
What do you think? How long do you think before artificial intelligence becomes super artificial intelligence? What potential impacts on humanity do you think super AI will cause?
