Well, a busy weekend was to be had. Fringe Fiction went to the Philadelphia Bike Expo held at the Convention Center in Center City. Lots of cyclists and lots of bicycles of all kinds were on display to be bought. Also, some vendors were selling their bicycle trips based in Philadelphia. Lastly, we attended two seminars on the first floor more geared toward bicycle mechanics and those in the bicycle industry. If you’re interested in the sport of cycling, Fringe Fiction recommends that you attend.
We did see three fairly good movies this weekend.
The first is Tragedy Girls. Interesting take on horror movies. Fringe Fiction thinks this movie may be one of the better movies that combined horror, comedy and social media. Other than Nerve, Fringe Fiction doesn’t think any modern movie really captured social media and influencers. Overall, a solid and entertaining movie.
The second is Smile 2. Fantastic cinematography and trippy movie to say the least. This movie does have some darkly comedic moments. Naomi Scott played her role quite well although Fringe Fiction wishes she had more time to play her role as a singer.
The third and last one is Beneath Us. The movie overall was quite mediocre in terms of cinematography and story. However, the substance of the movie was about illegal immigrants which is pertinent today. The portrayal of the Caucasian masters in this movie was a bit over the top and cartoonish, but it drove the point across.
